About Us

Financial institutions that wish to serve the military community have found the Armed Forces Financial Network® (AFFN®) to be a valuable corollary to their other financial services.

About AFFN

AFFN was founded in 1985 at the request of the U.S. Army in support of the Surepay direct deposit system to provide U.S. military personnel (active, reserve, dependents and retired) with access to their funds through ATM and point-of-sale (POS) terminals at or near U.S. military bases worldwide. AFFN's mission is to increase the versatility of participating financial institutions to better serve the U.S. military. AFFN is co-owned by the Association of Military Banks of America (AMBA) and the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC).

About DCUC

The Defense Credit Union Council, Inc., is an organization of approximately 260 federal and state chartered credit unions. Formally organized in 1963, membership in the Council is restricted to those credit unions whose field of membership includes a well-defined segment of military and/or civilian personnel of the U.S. Defense establishment. Individual member growth is more than 13 million, and assets are over $100 billion. Twenty-two of the top 100 and 13 of the top 50 credit unions are members of DCUC.

About AMBA
